  So today I stop in the store to see what they had on the menu, however when I checked online…that is what truly made me stop and check it out. The place was small and welcoming. The owner told me they will be changing their menus daily so call ahead to hear the menu for the day. I thought that was an interesting concept, but you always want to have local favorites available all the time. She stated she normally only bake, but since she had time she decided to try the food part of it. I think they should have just stuck to the baking as planned. I order a small oxtails, rice and peas and veggies and a small jerk chicken with rice and peas for a total of $26.00. Now if I am going to spend that amount you dang on better be tasty. The chicken was so very dry. The rice and peas sort of tasted like the Success Brown-Boil-in Bag rice with some Goya pink beans. They had no sauce on the food, no plantains. The food was served in a container like the Chinese food plastic and yet they managed to still charge an arm and a leg. I don’t know how the oxtails were because I dropped them off to my husband, but I think he would agree…. because if something is good I get that phone call or text asking where I got the food from or how much he liked it. Yea, I got nothing. I think they should take a trip straight down the hill towards Newark & East Orange and sample a few of the others. Dare, I say even Golden Crust! I would recommend they try “Tasty Jamaican & American” for some suggestions. Would I recommend to friends? No. Would I go back? Maybe…just not for the food I’ll stick to the pastries! All I can say is I felt like I was robbed for the amount of cash spent on this less than mediocre food.
